I See Sisi

Class was very interesting today. We talked about Catholic and Protestant sensibility and the difference between these two religions and how the played a role in Vienna's history. We had planned on going to go see the Schatzkammer Museum, but it was closed. Instead we went to go see the Hofburg Kaiserappartements (or also known as Silberkammer) where Empress "Sisi" had resided while in Vienna. On display in the museum were replicas of her jewelry and dresses. What is the point in going to a museum, where they don't even have the real items on display?? However it was interesting to see all the silverware and furniture. That tour had taken about a good 2 hours or so. We were all beat by then. We went back to the dorms, where we had a quick discussion on how to use the laundry room. Boy- that will be a tough job for me when the time comes. Too many complicated things to remember. You have to select the temperature, decided if you want the fast cycle, then pay for it with a "cash carte" and then start the machine. For the dryer, the menu in all in German. A lot of the students want to do their laundry in the sink! I just say, go down to the Danube and do your laundry down there like they did hundreds of years ago. As the days go on, I am observing more different aspects of the Austrian culture. For an instance, you are standing in line to buy something. Someone then cuts in front of you. Apparently it happens a lot, but you are suppose to reply Was soll das?!? Meaning something along the lines of "What are you thinking?". I can't wait to try that one. Tomorrow I will definitely be going to the Kunsthistorisches Museum. There is suppose to be a treasure hunt assignment on how many various body parts of deceased Hasburgs are located. I better start researching....
